Video and sound installation. 5'30''. HD, Color, sound 5.1. Loop.

In this video, the artist looks at the archaeological practice as a body of gestures. Throughout the dig, she examined them in turn. Repetitive, precise, circumscribed. Cautious, attentive, infinite. Obsessive, heady, sometimes absurd. Rhythmical, jolting, violent.

Based on her observations of excavation work, she conceived an archaeology choreography that she removed from its context and filmed, interpreted by mimes. On screen, the archaeological body-object expresses itself in an unidentified language. Behind it, shadows multiply gestures to study and preserve it. Separated from this body by an impassable boundary, they will not really be able to enter in contact with it. The artist questions here the relentless undertaking of Man to study then preserve his past and its partly illusory dimension, due to the impossibility of completely grasping it.
